It's Nice to Be Appreciated
One of lead generation services I used contacted me late yesterday with a client who needed follow up right away. We discussed the details of this potential client, and I agreed to take the lead.
His number one complaint was that he had reached out to the listing agent several times about a listing and received no response. He had literally called her each day for several days. I assured him that I would try my best to find out what was happening with the listing he liked and get back to him as soon as possible.
I checked the listing out in our MLS. It was statused as available. I called the listing agent and got her voicemail. I left a message and waited about an hour for a return call. No response. I then got the idea to send her a text message. And guess what? The listing agent responded to the text. Unfortunately for my new client, the seller had accepted an offer on the property the day before.
I called my new client back and gave him the update. He again complained about calling the listing agent over and over with no response. I said to him that I apologize on behalf of our industry. He should have gotten a response one way or another, and I strive to respond to inquiries within 24 hours max. He was very surprised at my response, and said to me 'I appreciate you for apologizing on behalf of all agents and the industry. That was not necessary but very professional on your part.'
We then went on to talk about my experience and working together to help him with his new home. I told him I would set him up in our contacts and hopefully we can find a new property to replace this one. I explained that the current real estate market is moving very rapidly and homes like the one he wanted do not sit very long at the price listed. He understood.
It is nice to be appreciated.
